Power of Shinobue
On August 29, 2024, my YouTube channel, which is all about the beautiful shinobue flute, hit 2,000 subscribers! 🎊
Google says that out of the 100 million YouTube creators, only 10 million channels have surpassed 1000 subscribers. That means that if you have 1000 subscribers, you're in the top 10% of all YouTube creators. So, reaching 2K is a big deal, and I'm super excited about it!
Why did my channel become successful?
It's not because MatPat of Game Theory grew up behind my old house in Ohio and was my daughter's swimming teacher (but that's true).
It's all thanks to the power of the shinobue flute.

And hey, I think it was fate! I started my channel in July 2022, the same exact month Xenoblade 3 was released, and I didn't even plan for it. Heck, I didn't even know what Xenoblade was at that time!
I truly believe the Universe meant for this incredible instrument to be shared with the whole world, and I'm just here as a servant of this purpose.

I know there isn't a lot of information about shinobue in English, so it's not like you had a lot of videos to choose from. But if you absolutely hated me, you probably wouldn't have chosen to watch my videos. So, thank you!!!!! 😃😀🥹
Making videos, updating my website, and writing this weekly newsletter takes up a lot of my time and energy, but I'm passionate about sharing the joy of shinobue with the world for as long as I can. I've never played a musical instrument. Can I play shinobue and if so, how long would it take to be good?
Answer: Absolutely! Many people have learned to play the shinobue without any prior musical experience. The time it takes to become good depends on your definition of "good" and how often you practice. If you just want to play a couple of easy songs, you might achieve that in a few days or weeks. If you have higher standards, it will take longer. I must say, though, sounding pretty good with the shinobue is not as difficult compared to many other instruments. Keep practicing and you'll get there!
